Low band gap materials are promisinng candidates for active organic layers in devices, such as organic solar celss (OSCs) or light emitting devices. Based on the present state of the art we will put in particular emphasis on the synthesis and investigation of new thiophene derived low bad gap polymers with potential for applications. In oder study interface properties such as reactivity and electronic properties sysstematically at well defined systems, also oligomer model moleculesaare synthesized. Thin films sand interface are compared to those of corresponding polymers and polymer blends (as applied in OSCs), systematically. Correlations between organic materials properties, thin film deposition parameters and interfaces properties (dipoles, barriers, ionization potential) are studied.
